DAY 1: CULTURAL DAY NAIROBI - GIRAFFE CENTER, KAZURI BEAD FACTORY, SHELDRICK ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE

Guests will be picked up at the hotel for an exciting day of seeing local attractions and learning about Kenya! Stopping at the Giraffe Center, you will have a chance to read about the amazing rescue of the Rothschild’s giraffe and will get the opportunity to feed them! Moving on, we will travel to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. There we will see baby elephants be fed and cared for by their handlers. These elephants are eventually released into the wild when possible. Our last stop will be the Kazuri Bead Factory. Our guests will get an interpretive tour and watch the making of beads by Massai women. After the tour, we will have a chance to support these local artists by purchasing their handmade jewelry.

DAY 2: NAIROBI TO MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

After breakfast we will transfer to the Wilson Airport to catch a 45 minute flight to Keekorok in the Maasai Mara. Upon arrival, guests will be transferred to our lodge to settle in. Our first game drive will depart for the evening where we may see wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, elephant, cheetah, lion, leopard, and more! Upon return we will have a buffet style dinner before turning in for the evening.

DAY 3: MORNING AND EVENING GAME DRIVES IN THE MASAI MARA

Have your cameras ready as we depart for sunrise game viewing! Guests may have opportunities to see predators on the hunt or massive herds of wildebeest moving across the beautiful landscapes. We often see big cats and other Big 5 species such as cape buffalo, elephants and sometimes rhinoceros. Thomson’s gazelle, topi, hartebeest, hippopotamus and many species of birds may also be seen.

DAY 4: FULL DAY MASAI MARA WILDLIFE AND CULTURE

Departing early, guests will have the opportunity to observe, photograph and video more animal sightings along the way to the Maasai Village. Our local Kenya guides will communicate over the radio for the best sightings of lions, leopards, cheetahs and more! At the village, the Maasai Tribe will show us their traditional dances, songs and give a tour of their huts. On the way back to the lodge, we will have the opportunity for more wildlife sightings.

DAY 5: MASAI MARA KENYA TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK TANZANIA

Early morning departure to Keekorok airstrip to fly to the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. We will clear customs upon arrival and travel to our hotel to settle in. Should there be time we will head out for an evening Serengeti game drive in our open top safari trucks!

DAY 6: DAY IN NORTH SERENGETI

We will begin the day early for a chance to see more wildlife along the Mara River! Touring along the river allows us great opportunities to see large mammals as they come to the water. Wildebeest migration crossings happen often in this area allowing for great photography opportunities! The afternoon allows for rest time before heading out for an evening game drive.

DAY 7: NORTH SERENGETI TO SERENGETI SERENA (CENTRAL)

After breakfast, we will depart for our next stay in central Serengeti. On our journey, we will have multiple opportunities for wildlife stops along with enjoying a picnic lunch in the bush! Upon arrival, we will have time to enjoy the lodge amenities such as the pool, spa, or sundowners with scenic views. Before dinner, the cultural entertainment show is a must see!

DAY 8: SERENGETI SHORT GRASS PLAINS

In the morning, we will head out to the short grass plains of the Serengeti. Short grass plains are our best opportunity for cheetah, hartebeest, ostrich and potential natural predation. We will also visit the Kopis (rock formations) for potential leopard, klipspringer antelope, rock python and lion sightings.

DAY 9: SERENGETI SERENA TO NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA

Heading south to Ngorongoro we will stop for wildlife along the way. Guests will be able to visit the Olduvai Gorge and Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dr. Leakey discovered hominid species here of the first humans to walk upright and scientists still work to discover more fossils and artifacts. After lunch at the museum, we will go 2,000 feet up in the mountains to the top of the NgoroNgoro crater rim to settle in our lodge for the evening.

DAY 10: NGORONGORO TOUR DAY

We will begin a morning descent into the crater which allows us fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities. The wide open expanse of the crater enables guests some of the best unobstructed wildlife viewing and photography. Lion, hyena, cape buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, elephant, and even the rare black rhinoceros may be seen. The water in the crater is a pristine habitat for flamingos and many other species of birds.

DAY 11: NGORONGORO TO LAKE MANYARA

After breakfast we begin our journey southeast along the crater rim to Lake Manyara. Upon arrival we will drive into a jungle atmosphere of huge trees allowing us to see blue monkeys, huge populations of baboons, up close elephants and other wildlife. We will then head to our luxury lodge to settle in for the evening.

DAY 12: LAKE MANYARA TO ARUSHA / DEPARTURE

Our last day together we will head to the African Galleria where guests will be able to do some end of tour shopping. The Galleria has available wood art, paintings, and jewelry specializing in Tanzanite. After shopping we will take a cultural village tour to see how local Tanzanians grow bananas, make wood art, and taste local banana beer. After the tour we will have a traditional African meal made by Mama Africa. We then drive to the Mt. Meru Hotel to settle in and enjoy the beautiful grounds for the evening.
